Founded in 2007 by Dr Sambashiva, Samjaya Healthcare Limited (formerly Sri Lakshmi Super Speciality Hospital) now operates 3 hospitals across Bengaluru. What has not changed in all that time is what it feels like to walk through the door — someone listens, someone explains, and no one is hurried.
Most people who come to us are frightened for someone they love. We would rather sit with that worry than talk over it, and that is the promise every one of our hospitals carries: we treat people, not cases.
In his own words
My journey in healthcare began with a simple belief: that everyone deserves a fair chance at health. When we named our initiative, we chose a word deeply rooted in our heritage: Samjaya, which means Victory in Sanskrit. For us, every successful surgery, every recovered patient, and every healthy child is a victory over illness.
Having witnessed the gaps in facilities and technology during my early years at a government hospital, I was inspired to make a lasting difference. In 2007, Sri Lakshmi Super Speciality Hospital was born, to bring advanced healthcare closer to home in KR Puram. Over the years, we have helped countless families with minimal medical bills and conducted outreach programmes across Karnataka to promote health awareness. Today that work continues as Samjaya Healthcare Limited (formerly Sri Lakshmi Super Speciality Hospital), the name all three of our hospitals now carry. Thank you for being a part of our journey. Our journey
From one 15-bed hospital to three, and a listed group.
19 years, told through the milestones the group records itself — each one dated, and none of them rounded up.
2007
Founded Samjaya Healthcare Limited (formerly Sri Lakshmi Super Speciality Hospital) in Kaggadasapura, a 15-bed super-speciality hospital that started it all. It grew directly out of the gaps in facilities and technology Dr Sambashiva had seen first-hand during his early years at a government hospital.
2008
Established a dedicated Advanced Uro-Nephro Centre at the Kaggadasapura campus, raising the bar for speciality care. Barely a year after opening, urology, nephrology and dialysis sat together under one roof, so patients who needed kidney care week after week could receive it in one place.
2012
Opened a second hospital in KR Puram, bringing world-class multispeciality care to East Bangalore. The KR Puram site went on to become the group's flagship, and it set the pattern for everything after it: advanced care close to home, rather than a long trip into the centre of the city.
2016
Launched a comprehensive Cardiac Cathlab and Advanced Surgical Centre, enabling complex cardiac and surgical interventions in-house. Cardiology, laparoscopic surgery and emergency care were now supported on the same campus, which is what allows a patient who arrives in crisis to be treated where they already are.
2022
Established a dedicated 15-bed maternity and child care unit in KR Puram, expanding our commitment to women's and paediatric health. It operates as Sri Lakshmi Mother & Children Hospital, pairing obstetrics and gynaecology with paediatric and neonatal care so that mother and baby stay with one team throughout.
2025
Rebranded the entire group as Samjaya Healthcare Limited, unifying all branches under one identity ahead of an IPO. Samjaya is Sanskrit for victory — the founder's word for what every recovered patient represents — and all three hospitals now carry it.
Samjaya has operated continuously since 2007. Where our older websites carry conflicting figures for years of service, this timeline is the record we stand behind.
